Assault by a son kills a 73-year-old woman in Uttam Nagar, Delhi

A 53-year-old man was arrested by Delhi Police on Thursday for allegedly abusing his mother, who died on Saturday as a result of her injuries.

The woman, identified as 73-year-old Angoori Devi, a resident of Uttam Nagar, was admitted by her son-in-law Manoj Kumar to DDU Hospital in west Delhi on Thursday, according to hospital officials. She was deemed unfit to deliver a statement by police.

Based on Manoj’s allegation, they filed a complaint under Section 308 of the Indian Penal Code (attempt to commit culpable homicide) against the suspect, Angoori Devi’s son Bhagwan Dass, a resident of Mohan Garden.

On the same day, Bhagwan Dass was apprehended at his home in Uttam Nagar.

 A police officer  fimiliar to the matter stated that Angoori Devi was taken to Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday for better care when her health deteriorated, but she died from her injuries. “Our team received information about the woman’s death at Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday evening. We amended the FIR in the case to include Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code (penalty for culpable homicide not equivalent to murder). “Proceedings under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code are ongoing,”.
