Sonali Phogat was drugged by her manager and associate… : Police
Actress and BJP leader Sonali Phogat was given drugs by her manager Sudhir Sangwan and a friend at a restaurant on Goa’s Anjuna beach, according to a senior Goa police officer on Friday. Sonali Phogat then went back to her hotel and complained of feeling queasy.
According to Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh Bishnoi, after being confronted by investigators with CCTV footage from the Curlies restaurant they had visited on August 22, Sangwan and his associate Sukhwinder Singh admitted to forcing Sonali Phogat to consume a “obnoxious” substance that left her prominently unstable.
“It is a synthetic substance, but we do not know what the repulsive chemical that was added to the drink that was forced upon her was. We can’t be sure until we conduct a chemical analysis, Bishnoi remarked.
After being detained, Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh were brought before a judge, who ordered their detention in police custody for two days.
The reason for the crime has not been determined by investigators. The search continues, according to Bishnoi.
According to the police officer, when the two suspects were confronted with the CCTV evidence, “Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder confessed that they had purposefully given the accused some offensive chemical after which the victim wasn’t herself and needed to be taken care of. The woman was escorted to the washroom after she lost her composure at 4:30 p.m., according to Bishnoi.
He continued by saying that the authorities had not yet determined the identities of the individuals seen partying in the CCTV clip. “The Curlies shack was packed with people. We have the taxi driver’s statement that he described her condition when he took her from Curlies to the hotel on tape.
Soon after Sonali Phogat’s death, according to the police, they began their inquiries, first treating it as an unnatural death. On Thursday, a murder case was filed based on a complaint made by her brother Rinku Dhaka that implicated her sister’s manager.
