Police and the owner of the store report an Atlanta Subway employee died and another was injured after a customer opened fire because he had too much mayonnaise on his sandwich.
An alleged customer shot and killed a 26-year-old female employee at a Subway location on Northside Drive on Sunday night just after 6:30 p.m. because he was unhappy with the way his order was prepared. Another 24-year-old female employee was injured and is being treated in a local hospital. As reported by the owner of the Subway location and the Atlanta Police Department, the injured worker’s five-year-old son was also inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting.
The proprietor of the Subway, which is housed in a building along with a convenience store and gas station, told NBC affiliate WXIA-TV that a client had come in who was rather dissatisfied with how his sandwich had been prepared. It was caused by too much mayonnaise on his sandwich, believe it or not.
The business owner claimed that a repeat customer who had previously visited the establishment without incident got into an argument over a sandwich with staff before pulling a gun and opening fire, adding that the store manager returned fire. According to Atlanta Deputy Police Chief Charles Hampton Jr., the two shot Subway employees were taken to the hospital where one was later declared dead and the other is in serious condition.
