Bandi Sanjay, the leader of the BJP in Telangana, arrested
Bandi Sanjay, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana, was detained on Tuesday as he called for statewide demonstrations against the detention of party members the previous day outside the home of MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
The employees were demonstrating against Kavitha’s suspected participation in the liquor scandal involving Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi.
Police arrested Sanjay just as he was preparing to hold a sit-in in Jangaon. Before hundreds of troops dispersed them and removed Sanjay, BJP members opposed his arrest and blocked police cars. Numerous BJP workers were injured as a result of police lathi charges.
In an effort to force action against Kavitha, the daughter of Hyderabad’s chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, BJP members attempted to lay siege to her home on Monday in Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills.
