Meghalaya : Public demands death penalty for the murderers of taxi drivers
On September 1, the All Jaintia Commercial Vehicle Association convened at Lad Nartiang, Jowai, West Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya, to demand the death penalty for the suspect who was recently accused of kidnapping and killing two tourist taxi drivers.
The accused lured the drivers to remote locales under the pretence of reserving the automobile, then brutally murdered and strangled them to death with ropes.
One of the victims, Damehipaia Papeng, was discovered buried in a bush on NH47 (the Jowai bypass). Fullmoon Kharsahnoh, another victim, was dumped near the settlement of Mynkre, which is close to the road.
The accused is currently in police custody. The public and the drivers association are all in support that the accused be handed dead penalty to bring justice to the family members and the society.
