Bill Gates, SII got notice from Bombay HC after petitioner claims Covishield killed his daughter

In response to a case filed by a man who claimed that side effects from the drug Covishield were the cause of his daughter’s death, the Bombay High Court has asked responses from the Serum Institute of India (SII), Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and others. The vaccine manufacturer has being sued for compensation of Rs. 1,000 crore by the petitioner.

The petitioner, Aurangabad resident Dilip Lunwat, alleged that his daughter Snehal Lunawat, a medical student, was forced to receive the anti-Covid vaccine at her college in Nashik on January 28 of last year because she qualified as a health professional. The SMBT dentistry college and hospital in Dhamangaon, Maharashtra, employed Snehal as a senior lecturer and physician. Covishield, a medication created by the SII, was taken by her.

After suffering from severe headaches and vomiting, she was rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered bleeding in her brain. Snehal died on March 1 as a result of side-effects from the vaccine, it claimed.

The adverse events following immunisation (AEFI) committee at the Center filed a report on October 2 that was the basis for the petition.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which collaborated with the SII to hasten the production and distribution of 100 million doses of the vaccine, has been asked for comment by the petitioner as well. The Union government, the state of Maharashtra, and the Indian Drug Controller General were all approached for response.
