Bomb exploded in Kairang, Imphal East District, Manipur
According to authorities, a large bomb was exploded in Kairang, a Muslim-dominated district in Manipur, but no one was injured in the blast, which occurred early on Thursday morning.
At around 4 a.m. on Thursday morning, an explosion occurred in front of the shop of one Mohammad Tolen in Imphal East District, according to police. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the explosion.
Senior police officers hurried to the scene, and a search operation was launched to apprehend the criminals.
After Saturday’s deadly terror assault in Churachandpur district, Manipur’s security forces, including the Army and the paramilitary Assam Rifles, are on high alert. An Assam Rifles Colonel Viplav Tripathi and four paramilitary force jawans were gunned killed.
Tripathi’s wife and nine-year-old kid were also slain in the ambush by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and Manipur Naga People’s Front (MNPF) rebels, who were armed with modern weapons.
Security authorities found a big stockpile of potent Improvised Explosive Devices, including a mobile phone handset and a digital watch, from three different places in Manipur after Saturday’s worst terrorist strike.
A search operation is on to trace the perpetrators, sources said.
