On Wednesday night in the Palakkad district, a tourist bus collided with another bus operated by the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), resulting in nine fatalities, five of whom were schoolchildren.
Around 12 am, according to the police, an accident happened on the Walayar-Vadakancherry route. Five of those who passed away were students, three were KSRTC passengers, and one other was a bus worker. The accident happened when a tourist bus carrying students from a private school attempted to pass another vehicle but slipped and collided with the KSRTC bus at the rear. Rescuers had to bust open both buses to save individuals who were trapped after the collision caused both buses to flip.
“It was a terrible accident. All of the deceased’s bodies have been identified. According to minister MB Rajesh, who arrived at the scene of the disaster shortly after it occurred, some of the injured are in severe condition, and the government would give the finest medical care possible for them.
Students from Baselios Higher Secondary School in Ernakulam were on a trip to Ooty while traveling in a KSRTC superfast bus from Kottarakara to Coimbatore in neighboring Tamil Nadu.
