Two ladies were enticed to a Pathanamthitta residence over the course of four months by a Kerala couple who believed that human sacrifice could bring wealth. The women were slaughtered and their bodies were hacked into pieces before being buried in the backyard. The couple and their accomplice, who devised the plan to amass wealth and assisted them in killing the two middle-aged women, have been apprehended, according to the police.
After the three were taken into custody, Kochi police commissioner CH Nagaraju stated that the body parts of one of the two ladies, Padma, had been unearthed and will be subjected to a confirming DNA test. The three have been identified as masseur Bhagaval Singh, his wife Laila, and Mohammad Shafi alias Rasheed.
About eight months ago, the couple reacted to Mohd Shafi’s advertisement in a neighbourhood newspaper, which offered to perform rituals for his customers’ success. This is how they first made contact with him. Over the ensuing weeks and months, Shafi got to know the couple and persuaded them to do a human sacrifice in an effort to reverse their fate.
According to Kochi police commissioner CH Nagaraju, Shafi persuaded Roselie, an Ernakulam lottery ticket seller from Kaladi, to visit the couple’s home for some job in June. She was killed to “propitiate their deity,” but after some time, the couple realised it had not changed their lives and complained to Shafi. But he warned that they were under some type of curse and would require even another sacrifice.
P Padma, a lottery ticket vendor from the Kochi suburb of Ponnurunni, was invited to the couple’s home by Shafi in September because of this. In the compound, close to where Roselie lay, she was also executed, and her remains were interred. When Padma’s sister reported her missing on September 27, the day she vanished, authorities took action this time.
The Pathanamthitta district’s Thriuvalla, according to the police, was where her phone’s location was indicated. She also seems to have called Shafi frequently right before she disappeared, according to her phone records.
