Canada’s major network outage affects millions; banking, transportation are affected

Local media reported that a major telecom giant’s network breakdown on Friday caused issues for Canadians using mobile services and internet connectivity. Customers were outraged by Rogers’ significant outage, which further added to criticism of its market domination, and it affected banking services, passport officers, and the nation’s ArriveCAN app, which is used for border control. According to police across Canada, Reuters reported that some callers were unable to contact emergency services through 911 calls.

The business acknowledged that both its wireline and wireless networks were affected by the outages. However, the cause of the problem is still a mystery.

“We are aware of how our outage is affecting your life. We have all of our technical partners and resources fully deployed to address the issue. We will let you know as soon as we are aware of the precise time when the Networks will be fully functional. We are currently concentrating on the answer, “the telecommunications behemoth stated in a tweet.

Federal Industry Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne said in a statement that the government was monitoring the situation closely and had told Rogers “how important it is that this matter be resolved as soon as possible and for the company to provide prompt and clear communication directly to those impacted.” Meanwhile, the Public Interest Advocacy Centre called on the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission to launch an inquiry under the Telecommunications Act into the outage. The commission said it was reviewing the request.
