The Bengaluru government recently declared an RT-PCR test for all international travellers, causing pandemonium at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on Wednesday, December 1, as new guidelines enacted by the Union government due to the Omicron version of COVID-19 went into effect. Long lines formed at the airport as a result of new guidelines requiring all overseas travellers arriving in India to undergo a mandatory RT-PCR test.
Images indicated a lack of physical separation as many passengers raced to undergo an RT-PCR test, which is considered a violation of protocol and increases the chance of the virus spreading further if any individual is infected. According to accounts, there was only one testing counter to screen the passengers, despite the presence of four doctors and 25 staff members.
Many people took to social media to express their grievances faced by them in the airport.
