On Sunday, India's Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy won their first BWF Super 750 title by winning the men's doubles event at the French Open 2022.

On Sunday, India's Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy won their first BWF Super 750 title by winning the men's doubles event at the French Open 2022.
After defeating Japan's top seeds, Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi, in the quarterfinals, the Indian badminton team upset Chinese Taipei's Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han 21-13, 21-19 in the final.
Despite their previous three BWF World Tour triumphs in lower-level competition, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy won this one. According to Olympics.com, the Thailand Open 2019 and the India Open 2022 were both Super 500 competitions, but their first, the Hyderabad Open 2018, was a Super 100 competition.
Furthermore, this was the first time an Indian men's doubles combination had won the French Open badminton tournament since Partho Ganguli and Vikram Singh in 1983.
Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, the seventh-seeded duo in the championship and the world's No. 8 men's doubles combo, got out to a blazing start, winning the opening five points of the match.
The Indian pair easily controlled and won the first game due to their aggressive badminton approach.
In the second game, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy carried the momentum and reached halftime with a comfortable six-point advantage against Chinese Taipei opponents.
However, Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han fought their way back into the game, bringing the score to 14 all.
The momentum of the match clearly shifted after the comeback, as Lu Ching Yao and Yang Po Han battled courageously to take a 19-17 lead.
The in-form Indian couple, who won the Commonwealth Games championship in Birmingham earlier this year, shown amazing maturity by controlling their nerves to win the game, match, and title.
