Prices of compressed natural gas (CNG) in Delhi and its environs have been raised by Rs 2 per kg in yet another shock to the common man. Late Friday, the Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) raised CNG pricing in Delhi and its surrounding areas by Rs 2 per kilogram.
The cities of Noida, Ghaziabad, and Gurugram in Delhi-NCR have also seen price increases. According to data from news agency PTI, this is the 13th price increase since March 7 and the second hike this month. On May 15, there was also a 2-percentage-point increase in CNG pricing.
CNG prices 75.61 per kilogram in the national capital region of Delhi, up from 73.61 per kilogram on May 15. CNG prices have been raised to 78.17 per kilogram in Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad, and 83.94 per kilogram in Gurugram.
The increase in CNG prices comes at a time when consumer price index-based retail inflation reached 7.8% in April, the highest level in eight years. The increase in pricing can also be connected to rising geopolitical tensions as a result of the Ukraine War.
