Just a day after Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain reported she felt mentally harassed since her coaches were not present in the Commonwealth village, one of them, Sandhya Gurung, finally received her accreditation for the games on Tuesday.
“I have received accreditation for the Commonwealth Games 2022,” Gurung told ANI.
“This morning, Sandhya was transported to the boxing village and handed accreditation.” “She is now a member of the team,” an Indian Olympic Association (IOA) official told PTI. According to PTI, Gurung has also been allotted a room in the Games village.
Boxer Lovlina Borgohain, who will represent India in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, took to Twitter to express her displeasure with how her training process is being delayed by several causes. In response to the post, the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports tweeted, “We have encouraged the Indian Olympic Association to promptly arrange for the accreditation of Lovlina Borgohain’s coach.”
“It is with great regret that I inform you that I am continuously being harassed as a result of the removal of my coaches.” “The frequent removal of my coaches, who have helped me win an Olympic medal for my country, is harming my training process for the tournament,” she tweeted on Monday.
“Even after requesting so much, this still happened, and it has caused me mental harassment.” I’m not sure how I’ll be able to concentrate on my game if this continues. This is why my performance in the World Championships was subpar, and I don’t want politics to derail my prospects in the CWG. “I believe I can break free from the chains of politics and bring medals to my country,” she added.
