Dr. Randeep Guleria retires voluntarily after more than 30 years of service at AIIMS
In 2011, Guleria established the department of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine at AIIMS. Guleria joined AIIMS in 1992 as an assistant professor in the department of medicine. Prior to taking over as the institute's director for a tenure of five years on March 28, 2017, he served as the department's head. Prior to his term expiring on March 24, 2022, it was extended by three months until June 24, and it was then extended once more by three months.
Dr. Randeep Guleria, the former director of AIIMS, has voluntarily retired after more than 30 years of service to the prestigious organisation. On September 23, his term as a director came to an end. He then applied for VRS, which has since been approved.
His joining a private hospital was the subject of rumours at the institute, and sources claimed that he had been in negotiations with them for some time.
During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Guleria was one of the key figures overseeing the government's response and was instrumental in raising awareness of the pandemic's many facets.
