An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 that has jolted Nepal’s Dhitung, 147km east-southeast of Kathmandu on Sunday morning. The earthquake in Nepal has also tremored few parts of Bihar and West Bengal. The earthquake occurred at 07:58 am (IST) on July 31, according to India’s National Center for Seismology.
A number of cities in Bihar including Patna, Muzaffarpur, Munger, Bhagalpur, Begusarai and Katihar felt the jolt of the earthquake, although it was Sunday morning and because of that almost everyone was in deep sleep, so very less number of people would have experienced or felt the same. The tremors were also felt in some other parts of India including in Sikkim and West Bengal towns Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Siliguri.
As per data from National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake hit a latitude of 27.14 and longitude of 86.67.
