Meghalaya: BJP leader Bernard N Marak sent to 14 days Judicial Custody
Bernard N Marak, a tainted BJP state vice president and Tura MDC member, was detained in judicial custody on Wednesday under relevant portions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
Custody for 14 days in connection with Tura Women PS Case No. 105(07)2022 u/s 370(3) IPC r/w 3/4/5/6/7 Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Vivekanand Singh Rathore said the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Tura, also allowed the investigating officer in the case to arrest Marak in another case connected to the recovery of explosives from his farmhouse Rimpu Bagan at Edenbari.
On July 29, police seized 35 gelatine sticks, 100 detonators, four crossbows, and 15 arrows from a farmhouse. Marak was apprehended by Uttar Pradesh police in Hapur district on July 27 after Meghalaya police issued a countrywide notice against him. The BJP leader was on the run after police raided his home on July 22 before being arrested in Uttar Pradesh.
