EC extended the ban on Election Rallies till 22nd January

As of Saturday, the Election Commission of India (ECI) extended the ban on public rallies and roadshows in five poll-bound states by another week, till January 22. The panel, however, also gave political parties some relief in the states of Goa, Manipur, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh.

ECI extends the ban on physical rallies and roadshows until 22 January 2022. “ECI grants political parties a relaxation on the ban, permitting indoor meetings for a maximum of 300 persons, or 50% of the hall’s capacity, or the prescribed limit set by SDMA (State Disaster Management Agency)
