‘Electric Vehicles to Cost Equal to Petrol Vehicles in 2 Years’: Nitin Gadkari
Within two years, all electric cars (EVs) in the country will cost the same as petrol cars, said Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday. “I tell all honourable members that the cost of electric two-wheelers, electric three-wheelers, and electric four-wheelers will be similar to the cost of petrol cars within two years, and the country will transform,” he stated.
Gadkari told Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla that if a charging station is established in the Parliament grounds, MPs will be able to purchase electric vehicles. “We aim to provide electric charging in the parking system in every government site,” he continued.
The Ministry of Power, according to the union transport minister, has issued charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. Meanwhile, Nitin Gadkari arrived in Parliament on Wednesday in his hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai, declaring that hydrogen is the future of fuel. The car is made by Toyota in Japan, while the hydrogen fuel is supplied by Indian Oil Pump in Faridabad.
“In order to become ‘Atmanirbhar,’ we used green hydrogen, which is made from water. This vehicle is a prototype. Green hydrogen manufacturing will now begin in the country. Imports will be limited, and new job possibilities will be generated, according to the minister.
