Elon Musk responded on Twitter on Wednesday after Twitter sued him for breaching the terms of their $44 billion acquisition agreement and sought a Delaware court to order the world’s richest man to complete the transaction at the agreed-upon $54.20 per share.
For his 100 million Twitter followers, Elon Musk, the CEO of electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Inc., wrote, “Oh the irony lol.”
According to a Bloomberg report, the complaint against him is 62 pages long and includes quotations from about 13 of Elon Musk’s tweets. The case has not yet been assigned to a judge. The business intends to begin the case on September 19.
Additionally, he said that the business ignored his request for information about the precise amount of bogus accounts it had on its platform. Twitter defended withholding the information from Elon Musk by claiming it feared Musk would create a rival platform after dropping the deal.
Twitter accepted such terms in April after changing its earlier opposition to the merger and agreeing to pay Musk $54.20 per share. But ever since the billionaire announced on Friday that he was pulling out of the deal to purchase the business, the two parties have been preparing for a judicial battle.
The first sentence of Twitter’s lawsuit contains a venomous charge: “Musk refuses to execute his duties to Twitter and its stockholders since the agreement he made no longer serves his personal interests.”
