National Emblem ‘Shows Man-Eater Tendency,’ Oppn Slams Modi Govt Over New Structure

Major controversy erupted over the national emblem atop the new Parliament building that was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. The Modi government, according to the opposition parties, has changed the “graceful and regally confident” Ashokan lions into those with “menacing and aggressive posture.”

The opposition has criticised Modi for disobeying constitutional requirements and for omitting to invite opposition leaders to the occasion.

The RJD of Lalu Yadav criticised the government, claiming that while the original logo had a gentle expression, the versions created during Amrit Kaal “suggest a man-tendency eater’s to swallow everything in the country.”

While Hardeep Singh Puri, the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, claimed that beauty is often viewed as being in the eyes of the beholder, same is true of calm and fury. The BJP claimed that it was an identical replica of the original one in Sarnath.

“If one looks at the Sarnath emblem from below it would look as calm or angry as the one being discussed. If the Sarnath emblem was to be scaled up or the emblem on the new Parliament building is reduced to that size there would not be any difference,” the Union Minister explained.
