Former Pakistan Cricket Captain Shahid Afridi Supports Taliban

The 44-year-old former Pakistan Cricket Captain Shahid Afridi shared his views on cricket and women’s rights in Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover. The Pakistan cricketer spoke in favor of the Taliban for supporting cricket in Afghanistan. Afridi batted for the Taliban & said that they’ve come with a ‘positive mind’ this time. “They (the Taliban) have come with a very positive frame of mind,” said Afridi.

In the recent past, the cricketer has also made several statements regarding Kashmir that irked Indians, after he mentioned in his memoir that his daughters are “not allowed to play outdoors”.

Soon as the video came out, netizens thrashed out at the cricketer, highlighting various issues faced by women in the past and other diktats in the current regime of the Taliban.

A video has also surfaced where Afridi can be seen singing praises of the Taliban during a media interaction. He expressed that the Taliban has come with a “positive mind” this time around.

It is to be reported that Afghanistan and Pakistan were slated to play an ODI series in September, which had to be postponed indefinitely due to the current situation in Afghanistan.
