Google has revealed that users will soon be able to use machine translation to translate news coverage in other languages directly from Search. People currently receive Search results for news in their home country in their preferred language. “We’ll debut a new tool in early 2023 that will give customers a straightforward method to access translated news coverage utilising machine translation,” the business claimed.
To begin, the function will translate news results in French, German, and Spanish into English on mobile and desktop, and it will eventually be expanded to more languages. “You’ll be able to read reliable news from journalists in the country, providing you with a unique perspective on what’s occurring there,” Google stated late Wednesday in a blog post. The new Google Search tool feature connects readers seeking foreign news to relevant local reporting in various languages, providing them with more comprehensive on-the-ground coverage.
The company also revealed another tool that will allow users to see what others are saying in online forums and debates throughout the web. “A new feature will emerge when you search for something that might benefit from the different personal experiences found in online discussions beginning today,” the business said. The new ‘Debates and forums’ feature will provide useful content from a range of prominent forums and online discussions from around the web. According to Google, this capability is now available for English users on mobile in the United States.
