Guwahati: Water supply in Rajgarh and Pub Sarania to be suspended for two days

Rajgarh and Pub-water Sarania’s supply will be cut off for the next 48 hours, the Guwahati Metropolitan Drinking Water and Sewerage Board notified the city’s residents. On Friday, the connection will be restored. The supply will be cut off for these two days while pipe repair work is being done on Zoo Road Tiniali, the Board notified through the notification.

The Board also regretted subjecting the residents of those places to this hardship. It should be remembered that, of the 3 lakh houses in the megacity, only a pitiful 30% have access to tap water; the remainder are dependent on tubewells and private water suppliers, who demand exorbitant prices for their services.

The state government and the Guwahati Municipal Corporation decided to build four unfinished water supply projects in the city as a remedy to this issue. The four water supply projects that were started at the same time in 2011 in South-west Guwahati, South-Central Guwahati, North Guwahati, and South-east Guwahati have not been finished for ten years.
