Today, the Indian team added another medal to their possession as Priyanka Goswami won the silver medal in the 10,000-meter race walk.

In the Women’s 10,000m Race Walk Final on Saturday, Priyanka Goswami of Uttar Pradesh took home a historic silver medal. Her personal best time is 43:38.83 for Priyanka. At the 2016 Tokyo Olympics, Priyanka placed 17th overall out of 58 competitors with a time of 1:32:36.

Priyanka’s medal is India’s third in the athletics competition of the CWG 2022 on Saturday, following Tejaswin Shankar (bronze in high jump) and M Sreeshankar (sliver in long jump). Jemima Montag of Australia takes first place and the gold in 42:34. In 43:50, Emily Wamusyi Ngii of Kenya wins third place.

The achievement made Priyanka the first Indian woman to take home a medal in racewalking. She becomes just the second racewalker to do so at the CWG. Harminder Singh had won a bronze medal ahead of her in the 20-meter racewalk at the 2019 Games.
