Days after four ladies were racially harassed and then beaten by a Texas lady who claimed to detest Indians, a fresh video of an Indian-American being racially attacked by a person in California has surfaced on social media. In the most recent incident, the assailant, a 37-year-old man named Singh Tejinder, is also an Indian-American. According to the Fremont Police Department, he has been accused of assault, using profane language to disrupt the peace, and committing a hate crime in violation of civil rights.
When Krishnan Jayaraman went to pick up his food at a Taco Bell on August 21, the incident happened. The assailant remarked, “You’re a Hindu who bathes in cow urine.” He continued, “Indian folks are a joke.
“You’re disgusting dog. You seem awful. Never again should you appear in public like way “He continued his tirade and twice spit in Jayaraman’s face, which was caught on camera. “This isn’t India, folks! You were up in India, and now you’re up in America, the man reportedly stated.
It wasn’t until much later that Jayaraman realised the attacker was also an Indian based on his language and pronounciation. To be very honest, I was terrified. On the one hand, I was furious, but on the other, I was afraid; what if he gets too irate and then comes after me? He said to NBC Bay Area.
Sean Washington, the police chief, wrote: “We take hate crimes and events seriously and are aware of the profound effects they have on our neighbourhood. These events are disgusting. Regardless of their gender, colour, nationality, religion, or other differences, we are here to safeguard every member of the community.”
