IT raids in Maharashtra’s Jalna seize assets worth 390 crores; 58 crore cash, 58 kg gold…
In eight days of raids, the Income Tax Department investigators discovered 390 crore in illegal assets in the Maharashtra districts of Jalna and Aurangabad. The operations were done in a Bollywood movie style.
So that no one would know they were coming to raid, the officials disguised themselves as groomsmen and came. According to Zee News, they showed up in wedding cars on August 1 with “Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge stickers” applied.
Officials searched steel production factories’ residences, farms, and offices. The recovered unaccounted assets include 58 crores in cash, 32 kg in gold jewellery, and 16 crores worth of diamonds. There have also been discovered property documents worth 300 crores.
In total, 260 cops and 120 cars were used in the raids, which were carried out simultaneously at various locations by several teams. The officials needed 16 hours to count the cash totalling 390 crores.
Nothing was uncovered during the early phase of the raids, but soon, bundles of cash were discovered in the bed and under the closet of a farmhouse outside of the city. Diamonds, gold coins, gold jewellery, gold biscuits, and gold bricks were discovered.
