Meghalaya: Two Armed Kidnappers Shot Dead in in West Garo Hills, Victims Rescued

In an attempt to free two victims held by two highly armed kidnappers, Meghalaya police shot and killed both of them on Thursday in the West Garo Hills district, according to authorities. It stated the event happened early on Thursday near the Dibru Hill Reserve Forest.
According to district superintendent of police Vivekanand Singh, the kidnappers kept the two Assam people, one of whom was a minor, hostage and wanted Rs 30 lakh from each of them as ransom. In a tweet, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma made reference to the incident.

"In reprisal shooting, alert police killed two kidnappers and captured one AK-47 rifle, one 9 mm handgun, 32 live bullets, and 33 empty rounds. Now that the two people have been saved! ". Conrad expressed his gratitude to the authorities and state director general of police L R Bishnoi and said that the two kidnappers were not from Meghalaya and had "tried to jeopardise the peace in Meghalaya." According to Singh, kidnappers were slain by the police in retaliatory shooting and their arms were discovered next to their bodies. PTI
