Meghalaya Youtuber summoned by police on responsible use of sensitive information
Meghalaya Police summoned a local YouTuber on Tuesday for allegedly disseminating “news-like” sensitive information on his social media platforms and instructed him on how to do so responsibly.
A senior police officer also cautioned him not to use images or other sensitive information to promote his viewership without the consent of the relevant authorities.

Vivek Syiem, additional superintendent of police for East Khasi Hills, told PTI that “one man who has been disseminating material in the shape of news through YouTube without following due and proper procedure as per requirements to function as a media outlet was summoned yesterday.”
Specifically, the individual was educated on proper procedures for getting officially recognized by relevant authorities, following certain protocols and procedures, and maintaining a strict code of ethics when working in the information dissemination field.
In addition, the police have noted that there have been numerous instances of improper publication and broadcast of images, inaccurate and unsubstantiated information, which has caused confusion among the public. PTI JOP KK KK
