Mehbooba Mufti, the leader of the People’s Democratic Party, protests the Hyderpora encounter.

Mehbooba Mufti, the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, protested against the Centre on Wednesday, accusing it of “killing innocent people in the name of militancy” and demanding the bodies be returned to their families.

Mehbooba Mufti, the former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir and a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), organised a demonstration on Wednesday against recent alleged civilian killings by security personnel, demanding that the bodies of the victims be returned to their families.

Mehbooba Mufti, who led the demonstration in Jammu, sought a judicial investigation into the Hyderpora encounter, claiming that Kashmiris had never yielded under pressure before and will not do so now.

“We’d like a judicial investigation into this incidence.” The guilty should face severe punishment. The encounter resulted in the deaths of three civilians, which is unfortunate. It’s become fashionable to refer to people killed in battles as “Over Ground Workers” (OGWs). They don’t have any proof that they were OGWs. Such incidents inflame people’s resentment of us,” Mufti stated on Tuesday.
