Minutes before the series opener against Bangladesh, Rishabh Pant was cut from India's ODI team

The BCCI confirmed on Sunday that wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has been dropped from India's ODI team for the series against Bangladesh. Pant was dropped for an unknown cause, although the BCCI medical staff was consulted before the decision was made, according to the press release, suggesting that the 25-year-old may be suffering from a minor ailment.

"Rishabh Pant has been dropped from the ODI team after consulting with the BCCI Medical Team. Prior to the Test series, he will join the group. A replacement has not been looked for. For the opening ODI, Axar Patel was not available for selection. Following a spate of poor performances, there has been much discussion over Pant's status in the Indian team. Pant has failed to notch a single half-century, with his highest score coming against the West Indies in Lauderhill at 44 after scoring the game-winning century for India against England in July at the Trent Bridge Stadium in Nottingham. In recent T20Is, he has struggled, posting scores of 14, 17, 20*, 27, 3, 6, and 11 in the format. Pant's slump persisted in the recently concluded ODI and T20I series as he scored 42 runs in four innings. 

KL Rahul will be batting in the middle order for India in the ODI in Dhaka with Shikhar Dhawan and captain Rohit Sharma as the star opening pair now that Pant is out of the lineup. When Rohit mentioned that the team is dealing with a number of injuries and that fast bowler Mohammed Shami had already been ruled out due to a shoulder injury, he further suggested that Pant may have sustained an injury.We have four all-rounders playing despite some injuries and minor problems.
