To pay for his children's school expenses, Mukesh obtained a loan from a vegetable vendor
The legendary singer Mukesh struggled financially for six to seven years despite penning hits like Mera Joota Hai Japani, as his son Nitin Mukesh recently revealed.
According to Nitin Mukesh, the late singer Mukesh once had to borrow money from a vegetable vendor in order to pay his son's tuition.
Nitin Mukesh recalled Mukesh's financial difficulties, which continued even after the success of songs like Awara Hoon and Mera Joota Hai Japani, saying, "I have never heard of anyone's battle with so many ups and downs in life. He has gone days without eating or drinking, but the strange thing is that he struggled for six to seven years after becoming "The Mukesh Ji" after singing well-known songs like Awara Hoon and Mera Joota Hai Japani.
He continued, "There was a point when he couldn't afford to cover the costs of sending my sister and I to school. I clearly recall that there used to be a vegetable vendor close to our home who had such a deep affection for Mukesh Ji and his voice that he volunteered to lend him some money. Mukesh Ji paid our tuition in this manner. He and the vendor never let this information to get to us.
The performer added that their mother would inform them. "Our mother would always tell us everything, adding,'see how papa is going through a tough time.' I'll never forget these experiences, and I hope I can continue in his footsteps. He constantly persisted in trying.
"These stories are definitely going to inspire and motivate all the contestants to work hard toward their dreams," added Shankar Mahadevan.
