“Reveal the real owner of money” urges Mithun Chakraborty to TMC minister Partha Chatterjee
As the ED found another Rs 28 crore in cash from Arpita Mukherjee’s second flat, a close assistant to detained Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee, actor-politician Mithun Chakraborty asked Chatterjee to expose the identities of those engaged in the scandal.
He asked West Bengal’s minister to spill the beans. He stated that he did not believe Partha was the only owner of the funds.
Mithun went on to say that Partha must have been the keeper of the money that belonged to someone else and that he must speak up immediately.
“Why suffer in jail?” Mithun reasoned.
Aside from the cash, the ED recovered almost 5 kg of gold and several documents from the residence, only days after finding Rs 21 crore from Arpita’s previous flat. Officials reported a large sum of money was discovered from the toilet which took nearly 10 hours to count.
The top TMC leader was arrested on July 22 under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering (PMLA) Act after the ED found Rs 20 crore in cash from the home of a close acquaintance of the TMC minister, Arpita Mukherjee, during a night raid.
The ED arrested Partha Chatterjee on July 23 morning in connection with its probe into the suspected teacher recruitment scam.
Meanwhile, Mithun cautioned the Bengal administration on Wednesday that over three dozen Bengal MLAs from the Trinamool Congress are in contact with the BJP and that a Maharashtra-like situation might occur in the state at any time.
