The individual, named as Priyantha Kumara, was a Sri Lankan national, according to Sialkot District Police Officer Umar Saeed Malik. He previously resided in Sialkot.
Hundreds of men and young boys gathered at the spot, with groups of them screaming slogans, according to videos published on social media. The suspected motivation for the murder has yet to be revealed by police. After an initial investigation, a representative for Sialkot police stated details would be shared with the media.
In a tweet, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar expressed his “great shock” at the “horrific Sialkot catastrophe.”

Buzdar had already called the inspector general of police to submit a report and requested a high-level investigation into the situation.
