Muslim intellectuals to support Centre’s Agnipath Scheme

The Muslim intellectual community in Lucknow has come together to dispel misinformation about the Agnipath scheme, which has sparked protests across the country.

Clerics have been urged to appeal to youths who attend Friday prayers to serve the country by joining the armed forces.

The campaign will begin on Friday before the prayers, according to the group, which goes by the name of Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP).

The AMP continued, “We support the Agnipath plan as well as other ones, run by the Central government. Notable clerics and Imams of the mosques in different cities will spread our message to eligible Muslim youths. They will specifically request this during Friday prayers.

“We are also seeking the help of social media and trying to guide the Muslim young looking for job prospects in the Army,” AMP patron Shahid Kamran said.

The pro-Hindutva press focused mostly on the protests this week, which have resulted in violent outbursts in areas like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Telangana.
