The death of a 14-year-old girl in West Bengal as a result of gang rape has sparked widespread indignation. JP Nadda, the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has created a five-member committee to investigate the alleged gang rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl in Hanskhali, West Bengal.
The girl’s family claimed she was gang-raped on April 4 and was granted a death certificate following a hasty cremation with no post-mortem. The primary accused is the son of a ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader. Nadda has instructed the committee, which comprises Rekha Verma, a Member of Parliament, and Baby Rani Maurya, an Uttar Pradesh minister, to produce a report as soon as possible.
