According to a new government regulation, you must update two crucial documents—Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA)—if your Aadhaar card is older than ten years starting in 2022. A statement from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology advises people who had their Aadhaar cards produced more than ten years ago to update their information.
On November 9, 2022, the Aadhaar (Enrolment and Update) (Tenth Amendment) Regulations, 2022, which are the formal name of these regulations, came into effect. Individuals are required to update their supporting Aadhaar documents, including identification and address verification, at least once, in accordance with the amendment.
In order to update the Proof of Personal Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) papers in the Aadhaar data, UIDAI offers Aadhaar number holders the option of document update with the payment of the necessary cost.
