New Born Royal Bengal Tigers are Taken Extra Care Due to Extreme Cold; Assam
On Saturday, a Royal Bengal tigress named Kazi gave birth to two cubs at the Assam State Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden in Guwahati. With these cubs, the zoo’s Royal Bengal tiger population has grown to nine. Because Royal Bengal tigers are on the verge of becoming extinct, it’s a joy to see a new member of the species arrive.
“The cubs and the mother are in good health,” stated Amit Sahai, principal chief conservator of forest (wildlife). Because the mercury level in the state has plummeted in recent days, the zoo management has taken all necessary precautions to protect them from the cold. Heaters have been set outside the cage, and enough dry straw has been placed inside to keep the cubs warm.
According to him, the mother’s diet has been prioritized. He continued, “Around 6-7 kg of meat is given to the mother, along with another vet-prescribed diet.”
Heaters were placed outside their cage and enough dry straw was placed inside to keep them warm during the winter, he said.
Kazi had already given birth to two cubs named Sultan and Suresh in August 2020. The zoo management has asked Environment and Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya to name the newborn cubs.
