Meghalaya: Muslim citizens of South Shillong join the BJP

Ajay Mishra, the Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home, stated at a gathering here on Friday where a number of Muslim residents from the South Shillong constituency and others joined the saffron party that the idea that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is hostile to Muslims is just a vendetta of some vested interests.

The Union MoS stated in his speech that the party works for all of the nation’s citizens, regardless of caste or creed as per ST report.

According to MD Zakaria, who joined the party alongside others, their choice to do so was the right one because they could see that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP were bringing all the communities along while leading the nation towards development.

The party also congratulated the leaders who joined it.

To elect all 60 members of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, the next election is expected to take place in Meghalaya by March 2023. The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly’s term is set to expire on March 15, 2023. In February 2018, the previous assembly elections were held.
