Rainfall in Northeast India is expected to increase over the next five days, up to August 4, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). In addition to Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim, the IMD has forecast light to very heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lighting as well as thunderstorms and lightning in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
The IMD has issued an orange alert for July 31 and August 1 for Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh and a yellow alert for August 2 and 3. Arunachal Pradesh has received a green alert for August 4 and Assam and Meghalaya have received a yellow alert for the same day. A yellow alert has been issued for Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from July 31 to August 4.
“Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and over Arunachal Pradesh until Wednesday and over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura until Friday,” the weatherman predicted.
