In a series of tweets aimed at alerting the public to the concerning nature of the current Omicron surge around the world, Bill Gates said on Tuesday that he had canceled most of his holiday activities.
The billionaire Microsoft co-founder warned his followers that we “may be approaching the worst portion of the pandemic,” citing the increasing number of his close friends who have been affected by the virus.
He attempted to raise awareness through a series of tweets in which he highlighted the dangers of the Omicron variation, particularly in regard to its high rate of reinfection, as well as the worrying lack of knowledge we have about the strain as a whole.
He also expressed his concern about how the new strain is spreading across a broader space. “Omicron is spreading more quickly than any other virus in history. It will soon be available in every country on the planet, “Mr. Gates tweeted.
“The huge uncertainty is how sick you’ll get from omicron… Because it’s so infectious, even if it’s only half as bad as Delta, it’ll be the biggest surge we’ve ever seen “In a subsequent tweet, he elaborated.
He also underlined the importance of focusing greater attention on vulnerable people who are more susceptible to infection. He urged individuals to be vaccinated and added that getting a booster shot would be very beneficial.
Following the series, he expressed hope that this pandemic would not persist indefinitely and that it will eventually come to an end. It all depends on us to follow the appropriate regulations, and if we do, the pandemic will be over soon.
