Omicron Variant Cases Reached 49 in the Country
Covid’s Omicron variant has been reported in new instances in Delhi and Rajasthan, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 49.
Two new instances of the Omicron variant were reported in Maharashtra yesterday, with both patients having traveled to Dubai before.
Omicron, a “very transmissible” novel Covid strain, has already been recorded in six states: Maharashtra (20), Rajasthan (9), Karnataka (3), Gujarat (4), Kerala (1), and Andhra Pradesh (1), as well as two union territories: Delhi (6) and Chandigarh (1). (1). The government has issued a warning against noncompliance with Covid-related regulations, advising people to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
The Omicron version, which was first discovered in South Africa, has since migrated to other parts of the world, with one death reported in the United Kingdom, where the variant is rapidly spreading.
According to data from the Union Health Ministry, India’s Covid tally jumped to 3,47,06,344 today, with 5,784 persons testing positive for the illness in a single day, while the number of active cases fell to 88,993.
