Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Nepal on Monday for a quick visit to Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, and a meeting with his Nepalese counterpart Sher Bahadur Deuba to discuss ways to expand bilateral cooperation in a variety of areas, including hydropower, development, and connectivity.
“I’ve arrived in Nepal. On the auspicious day of Buddha Purnima, I am delighted to be with Nepal’s great people. “Looking forward to the Lumbini programs,” Modi tweeted.
This will be PM Modi fifth visit to Nepal since 2014, and first by any Indian Prime Minister to Lumbini.
A bilateral meeting between PM Modi and his Nepal counterpart, Mr Deuba, will take place at Lumbini, followed by a lunch hosted by the Nepal Prime Minister. PM Modi will thereafter depart for Kushinagar once again.
