On the failure of his daughter Ananya Panday's liger, Chunky Panday said: "It is a tricky business."

Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday heavily marketed their most recent movie, Liger. Critics also derided it because it did not result in a profitable endeavour. The movie only made about 20 crore in total. Chunky Panday, Ananya's father and an actor, has now remarked on the movie's box office flop.

Liger was Vijay's first Bollywood film, and it was directed by Puri Jagannadh. Additionally, it was Ananya's first bilingual movie. In the movie, Vijay portrayed an MMA fighter. Additionally included were wrestler Mike Tyson, Ramya Krishna, Ronit Roy, and Makarand Deshpande. 

Chunky stated in an interview with India Today regarding Liger, "It is with any film. If a performer gives a film their all, you support it, and something goes wrong, you clearly feel devastated. However, you must accept it and go on. I believe Ananya is aware that it is a hard business. He added that one shouldn't "Never undervalue something or overrate it in the movie industry.

He went on to say, "Nearly 400 people are engaged in it. As actors, you only get to see bits and pieces of it, so you have no idea what's going on. So, we can never predict what will happen in the end. You have to accept things as they are. You must proceed. 

Vijay spoke candidly about the movie's dismal box office results last month while accepting an award at SIIMA 2022. He'd stated, "Everybody has excellent days. Everyone experiences bad days. Everybody has bad days. But regardless of how we are feeling, we must stand up. You have my word; perhaps I didn't want to accept this prize here, but I did. I assure you that I will complete the task for each and every one of you as I speak to you. You'll enjoy yourself. Great movies will be produced. Thank to everybody. To be here is such an honor."
