On Saturday and Sunday, a thunder squall and hailstorm affected several regions of the West Khasi Hills, causing damage to several locations. Due to the fact that majority of the villagers dwells in kutcha houses, they were severely damaged during the hailstorm.
The hailstones, which grew in size, punched holes in tin roofs and wreaked havoc on the village’s greenery.
Nongkasen, Nginiong, Nongriat, Nongbudum, Mawlum Ramkdait, Mawbyrkong, Mawsynram, Mawkohmoit, Ranapbah, and other nearby places are among the villages affected, according to reports obtained from the BDO’s office in Mawthadraishan, however no casualties reported,
Ten villages in Mawthadraishan have verified that they were hit by the hailstorm, according to the BDO’s office. The impacted households and villages will be confirmed in a detailed report due on Monday.
RL Iew Rambrai, Umsiej, Nongkroh, Mawrang, Mawthaw, Myrwa, Mawphansyiar, and Lawdibah are among the villages in the Rambrai area that have been damaged, according to the BDO of Nongstoin. Nongkaniang, Nongrangoi, Mawkynjoin, Byrki, and Urkali villages in the Nongstoin area were impacted on Sunday night.
