P V Sindhu’s Historic Win against China’s Bing Jiao

P.V Sindhu won the bronze medal in Badminton against China’s He Bing Jiao 21-13, 21-15  in the Women’s Singles category. This was a historic win for P.V.Sindhu by becoming the first Indian woman to win two individual Olympic medals and has also become the fourth player to win women’s singles medals in consecutive games.

The whole of India was cheering for their daughter P.V.Sindhu, it was a moment of immense pride and happiness for the entire country.

 The Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi also tweeted and congratulated Sindhu.

The Prime Minister wrote, “We are all elated by the stellar performance by @Pvsindhu 1. Congratulations to her on winning the Bronze at @Tokyo2020. She is India’s pride and one of our most outstanding Olympians”. 

Many celebrities took to social media and congratulated Shindu,

Samantha Akkineni, Sara Ali Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Abhishek Bachchan, Varun Dhawan, Deepika Padukone, and others shared their reactions to Sindhu’s win.

Samantha Akkineni said she respects PV Sindhu’s “hard work” and called her “special.” On Instagram stories, she mentioned, “And she does it again. I can’t imagine what this takes. We absolutely love you and respect your hard work and dedication. You are so special.”

“Our girl is getting home the bronze! She did it! One colour at a time I say! Come on champ @Pvsindhu1. This calls for a celebration! You are one of a kind, let’s celebrate YOU!”  tweeted Taapsee Pannu

Abhishek Bachchan tweeted  “Congratulations on winning the bronze and also for becoming the first Indian woman to win two Olympic medals. You make India proud,”

Anil Kapoor also tweeted a congratulatory message to P.V.Sindhu, “An amazing win & a historical moment! Congratulation @Pvsindhu1!!!

However, her father Shri P.V.Ramana  in an interview said ” Firstly, I shall thank Park (her South Korean coach Park Tae Sang) who has taken great pain, the government of India, BAI, her supporters, everybody has given her encouragement, I am grateful to the media also. I am happy that she is the first Indian woman to win two consecutive medals at the Olympics–bronze and silver. That way she has brought name and for the country. Though the pressure is there I am happy that she has won a medal for the country. Because generally what happens is that playing the third and fourth match is a painful match, yesterday I motivated her a lot.”

He also disclosed that Shindu may arrive in her her country on the 3rd of August 2021.
