RPI-BJP to contest 2022 BMC polls in alliance; Mumbai
On Friday, the Republican Party of India declared that it will form an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Mumbai Municipal Corporation election.
Ramdas Athavale, the RPI’s leader, projected a few weeks ago that an alliance between his party and the BJP will win the elections. He also stated that the Corporation’s next Deputy Mayor would be a BMC leader.
He stated, “In such a scenario if the BJP forms an alliance with the RPI, we have a good chance of winning. The BJP-RPI combo won 82 seats last time, while the Shiv Sena took 84.”
“I am willing to work under the leadership of Balasaheb Ambedkar (Prakash Ambedkar, Babasaheb Ambedkar’s grandson),” the RPI leader declared.
