Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, commended India’s independent foreign policy today and said that if New Delhi wants to buy something from Russia, “we are ready to discuss it.”
After meeting with India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, Mr Lavrov told reporters, “We are ready to deliver whatever India wishes to buy from Russia.”
“We are willing to discuss and reach mutually acceptable partnership if India wishes to acquire anything from us,” he said.
Last night, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov came amid mounting international pressure and sanctions over the Ukraine conflict.
Both parties were keen on having a rouble-rupee deal for bilateral commerce, and the high-level talks between the two foreign ministers took place amid hints that India could buy larger volumes of cheap Russian oil.
