SC Scheduled To Hear A Plea Filed By P. Varavara, Accused Of Elgar Parishad Case

Supreme Court scheduled to hear a plea filed by Telugu poet, P. Varavara Rao, one of the accused in the Bhima Koregaon, Elgar Parishad issues, assailing the order of the Bombay High Court refusing to grant him permanent medical bail.

On April 13, the Bombay High Court rejected Rao’s appeal for permanent bail and permission to shift to Hyderabad, referring to his ill health and high expenses.

Earlier a court in India has been rejected a plea filed by activist Gautam Navlakha and Sagar Gorkha, accused persons in the Bhima Koregaon case, to use mosquito nets in prison.

The 2018 Bhima Koregaon violence refers to violence during an annual celebratory gathering on 1 January 1018 at Bhima Koregaon to Mark the 200th anniversary of Bhima Koregaon. The violence and stone-pelting by the crowd at the gathering resulted in the death of a 28-year-old youth and injury to five others.
