Business tycoon Elon Musk revealed on Friday that he will not proceed with the $44 billion acquisition of Twitter after the microblogging platform refused to give him useful and specific information on bogus accounts or bots. In return, Twitter threatened to sue Musk if he broke the agreement.
These most recent revelations are just one of the numerous twists Elon Musk’s bid to acquire Twitter has undergone.
Musk bought a 9.2% piece of the social networking site early in April, making him the platform’s largest individual shareholder. On April 25, 2022, it was revealed that Musk would pay $44 billion to acquire Twitter’s ownership.
Since the news of Musk’s reneging on the Twitter agreement made headlines, many online users have mocked the Tesla CEO on Twitter for breaking his promise.
Many online users accused Musk, whose tweets frequently draw criticism, of seeking attention. One Twitter user echoed this attitude by writing, “I wonder what Elon Musk won’t buy next to garner attention.”
